Associated Bank makes splash with branch transition in downtown Minneapolis

Green Bay, Wis.-based Associated Bank made a splash in downtown Minneapolis with the announcement that it will relocate its downtown branch to the famed IDS Center in fall of 2025.

The move to a larger space — planned at nearly 8,000 square feet — is designed to accommodate a more robust business banking experience, a bank spokesperson said. The branch goes beyond retail banking, with space set aside for private banking, wealth management, commercial banking and commercial real estate. The bank said it intends to retain office space in the PWC Plaza, where some of its corporate staff works.

The new branch will be on the skyway level of the IDS, overlooking Nicollet Mall. The branch will be roughly 400 square feet larger than the bank’s current branch in the Baker Center in downtown Minneapolis.

Build out of the space commenced last month and an exterior wrap displaying the bank’s branding was placed on the building at the beginning of March to highlight the move.

Associated Bank, the largest bank based in Wisconsin with $43 billion in assets, operates 19 branches in Minnesota. Paul Schmidt is Associated Bank’s Twin Cities market president.
