Spirit Lake, Iowa-based Bank Midwest donated to the YMCA of the Okobojis Reading Buddies Program.
The $1.2 billion bank recently donated 40 “Reading Buddy” tent bears to the program. Reading Buddies pair adults with kindergarten-aged children attending Okoboji, Harris-Lake Park and Spirit Lake schools.
“Reading is fundamentally important to our children and the overall strength of our communities,” said Luke Donnenwerth, market president at Bank Midwest. “One of our values at Bank Midwest is to be a lifelong learner. I can think of no better way to live this value than to pick up a good book.”
