Organizers more than doubled the initial fundraising goal to renovate the existing park and build a new play system, from $25,000 to more than $53,000. With those additional funds, organizers upgraded the ground covering to rubber mulch and replaced an existing 4-foot chain-link fence with a 6-foot security fence. A playground unveiling ceremony is slated for June 14.

“Centier and the Gary Rotary are two groups of individuals that care dearly for our community and give back to those in need,” said Centier Bank Community Lender Manager Jason Harris. “The renovation was much needed.”

YWCA of Northwest Indiana Executive Director Caren Jones said the children who utilize the program will benefit from the donation. “The investment in the YWCA directly benefits hundreds of children throughout the year, and this is only possible because of thoughtful contributions from wonderful organizations like Centier Bank and the Gary Rotary,” she added.
