Sparta, Mich.-based ChoiceOne Bank awarded 13 needs-based scholarships as part of its annual program for graduating seniors in the bank’s coverage area in west and southeast Michigan.
The $1,000 scholarships were available for graduating seniors who are attending an accredited Michigan college this fall to obtain a certificate, associates or bachelor’s degree. Applications were accepted from January through March, and students had to include a 500-word or less essay about one of their community-service experiences, including describing why they became involved in their community service and their personal accomplishments from their community involvement.
