Bank of Colorado will be matching funds up to $20,000 raised benefitting those affected by storms in the Brush, Colo., area.

A storm system that sparked three tornadoes, high winds and baseball-sized hail blew through the area on July 29. Winds topping 70 mph were reported, tearing off roofs, overturning vehicles and damaging crops. No major injuries were reported, although some people were sent to the local hospital with minor ones.

The storm cut a trail through Morgan and Washington Counties about 20 miles long and 10 miles wide in some places. The storm sparked at least two confirmed category EF-2 tornadoes and damaged multiple buildings, including a hangar at the airport in Brush.

The storm originated in southeastern Wyoming before moving into Colorado and moving into northwest Texas, according to the National Weather Service.

A benefit dinner will be held at Bank of Colorado’s Brush branch on Aug. 31. The Fort Collins-based bank is partnering with Brush and Fort Morgan Young Farmers and The Miracle Letter Program to put on the dinner in the branch’s parking lot in Brush.

Bank of Colorado branches throughout northeast Colorado will match the first $20,000 in donations raised. All funds will remain in the community to help those most affected by the storms.
