When a bank looks to grow through mergers and acquisitions, management and the board should plan out to five years hence and then work backwards to help determine if the bank can reach its goals organically or through an acquisition/s. Answer questions like: what kind of a bank are you? What markets do you thrive in? Logistically, where do you want to be? Where do you want to be five years hence?
