First Merchants Corp. appoints Purdue University president to board

Muncie, Ind.-based holding company First Merchants Corp. appointed Purdue University President Dr. Mung Chiang to both its board of directors and the board of its subsidiary, First Merchants Bank.

With Chiang’s appointment, the board of  the $17 billion First Merchants will expand to 15 members, including 13 independent outside directors. Chiang will be on the ballot for continuing terms at the corporation’s annual shareholder meeting in May.
