First Security Bank leader Raney to retire this week

Iowa-based First Security Bank & Trust Hampton leader Ron Raney will retire on Dec. 10.

Raney

Raney started his career out of college at Household Finance before moving on to Perry State Bank, Security State Bank of Hubbard, Hampton State Bank and finally First Security Bank. In April 2012, Raney became president of Hampton State Bank. When Hampton became First Security, Raney was appointed market president and became a member of the senior management team.

“Ron has always been committed to the community he works & lives in,” said Mark Miller, executive vice president and chief lending officer at First Security. “It’s made evident by his community involvement and longevity as a volunteer for many organizations.”

Ron has been a member of the Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, the Hampton Ambassadors, the Summerfest Committee, the RAGBRAI Central Committee, Yes! For Hampton-Dumont Students, Rotary, Franklin General Hospital Foundation, Hampton-Dumont School Board, Hampton-Dumont School Improvement Advisory Committee, and the Hampton-Dumont Scholarship Fund.

“He’s also dedicated to the financial well-being of his customers,” Miller added. “He listens well and is able to offer solutions based on his depth of knowledge while working in banking. He has been a true leader for staff he’s worked with over his career.”

Two of Raney’s coworkers, Michelle Schaefer and Donnis Borcherding, shared similar sentiments. “He’s shared many talents throughout our time working together,” Schaefer said. “I’ve learned many things from him. We wish him well and hope he enjoys the rewards of a job well done.”

“Ron has always been there to lend a hand with any of our requests,” Borcherding added. “It has been an honor to work with him, and he will be greatly missed.”
