Charles City, Iowa-based First Security Bank & Trust and its spokesperson, Iowa Hawkeyes Quarterback Spencer Petras, received multiple honors during the 31st Annual Iowa Motion Picture Awards ceremony on May 14 in Ottumwa.

The awards recognize extraordinary work in Iowa-based visual media. First Security and Petras received second-place Awards of Achievement in two areas, including Commercials with a Budget of $1,000-$4,999, where Petras portrays rescuing a group of young football players who are struggling; and Spokesperson, where Petras promoted First Security’s services and dedication to financial literacy in a series of videos using the tagline, “Don’t be a Spend-ster. Listen to Spencer and save money with First Security.”

Petras’ spokesperson role came after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that NCAA athletes can be compensated for the use of their name, image and likeness. “Petras and First Security partnered up due to their shared interest in spreading financial literacy among students,” the bank stated. “Petras has visited Charles City High School in person to discuss financial literacy with students as part of this sponsorship agreement.”

First Security videos received seven nominations for Iowa Motion Picture Awards this year.

“We are thrilled to be recognized with these awards,” said Matt Bradley, marketing and communications manager. “We’ve loved every minute we’ve spent working with Spencer Petras, and we’re glad to see that the fun we had making these videos shone through. Petras is a great spokesperson for us and our financial literacy outreach.”
