Former Idaho Bankers head dies

Barbara Mae Strickfaden

Barbara Mae Strickfaden, former head of the Idaho Bankers Association, died August 28, 2020. She was 81 years old. She was president/CEO of the IBA from 1992-2003. She also later worked at the American Bankers Association as executive director, the first woman to hold that position. In addition, she is a past chair of the Western States Banking Association Executives and a former director of Intermountain Community Bancorp. 

Strickfaden began her career in 1969, serving as secretary to the Idaho Senate State Affairs Committee until 1978, when she was appointed to serve as an Idaho State Senator. In 1982, she was appointed as administrator of the Alcohol Beverage Control Division of the Idaho Department of Law Enforcement. She also served as head of the Greater Coeur d’Alene Convention and Visitors Bureau from 1986 to 1992. 

Barbara Strickfaden was born in Jerome, Idaho, was a graduate of the University of Idaho, and was active in Idaho’s Republican Party.
