Frandsen names Duluth market president

Brian Shelton has been named head of the Duluth, Minn., office of Frandsen Bank & Trust, Arden Hills, Minn.

Shelton has 25 years of banking experience in the Duluth/Superior, Wis., market, most recently serving as a senior vice president of credit administration and business lending at the Minnesota Power Employees Credit Union. He is also a retired First Sergeant in the U.S. Army/Minnesota Army National Guard, where he served for 24 years.

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics and an MBA from the University of Minnesota, Duluth.

“Brian brings a wealth of banking experience to the Frandsen team and is very well connected in the Duluth/Superior business community,” said Michael Gay, regional manager and executive vice president at Frandsen Financial Corp. “His business banking skills, leadership acumen, and local market knowledge make him a perfect fit for this key position in Duluth. As Frandsen plans to grow our presence in the Duluth/Superior area, Brian will play a major role in this expansion.”

Frandsen currently has one branch in Duluth and one in nearby Cloquet, Minn. It agreed to purchase another office in Duluth from Alerus Financial, Grand Forks, N.D., with the deal set to close in April.

The $1.7 billion Frandsen recently reshuffled its corporate structure in advance of an M&A push.
