Fremont, Neb., bank announces promotions

First State Bank & Trust Co., Fremont, Neb., announced the promotions of Renee Schneringer, Jon Rohlfs and Nick Vrba.

Schneringer has been named senior vice president and CFO. She first joined First State Bank & Trust Co. in 2012 as risk manager and was promoted to chief financial officer in 2017. Sheringer is now responsible for overseeing the financial operations and activities of the bank and its holding company.

Schneringer has 20 years of banking and finance experience having worked for Farmers State Bank, Dodge, Neb., for 11 years. She is also a CPA and an accredited ACH professional. Schneringer has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University, Fort Worth, and is a graduate of both the Nebraska Bankers Association Leadership Program and the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, Boulder.

Schneringer has served on the Nebraska Bankers Association Education Committee.

Rohlfs was promoted to senior vice president and head of lending, along with joining the bank’s executive committee. In his new position, Rohlfs will oversee the lending functions of the bank. He has been with First State for 13 years and has more than 30 years of banking experience.

Rohlfs has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Midland University, Fremont, Neb., in addition to graduating from the Nebraska Bankers Association Leadership Program and the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, Boulder.

Vrba was promoted to executive vice president of lending and will provide leadership to the lending and administrative side of the bank. He has been with the bank since 2002, where he started as a teller and has since worked various roles.

Currently enrolled in the Nebraska Bankers Association Leadership Program, Vrba has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Midland University, along with having graduated from the Graduate School of Banking at Colorado, the NBA/KBA Commercial Lending School, and having received various other certificates of completion from the ICBA in loan review policy and procedures.

Vrba serves on many boards, both as a member and as president, and currently is a member of the Nebraska Bankers Association and Kansas Bankers Association’s Lending Advisory Committee.
