Fargo, N.D.-based Gate City Bank is again hosting an annual nomination contest for Giving Hearts Day.
One charity will receive $25,000, and two additional winners will each be awarded $10,000. The event has taken place since 2014. Individuals can nominate Giving Hearts Day charities as many times and as often as they want. The nomination period lasts through Feb. 6, with the recipients to be chosen through random drawings and announced on Giving Hearts Day, Feb. 13.
The $3.6 billion Gate City Bank has facilitated more than 823,000 nominations over the past 11 years, with more than 150,000 submitted last year alone. The bank has donated more than $2 million through its partnership with Giving Hearts Day, benefiting 300 charities.
“We believe in going big by continually setting new goals and finding creative ways to support the Giving Hearts Day charities that keep our communities strong,” said Senior Vice President of Culture Amanda Torok. “Through this remarkable partnership, we’ve been eager to help make a difference, and seeing the growing number of nominations from year to year has been nothing short of inspiring.”
Giving Hearts Day launched in 2008 as a charity fundraiser through Fargo-based Dakota Medical Foundation. Since then, charities in North Dakota and Minnesota have raised $195 million.
Gate City Bank will also host a multi-community food drive through Feb. 13, collecting nonperishable items for local food pantries.
