Financial services regulatory attorney Beau Hurtig joined Minneapolis-based Ballard Spahr’s business and transactions department and mergers and acquisitions group as counsel.
Hurtig has experience handling M&A and securities offerings in the bank and financial institutions sector, including as general counsel at Bell Bank affiliate Discovery Benefits, Inc., which administers employee benefit plans for approximately 11,000 employers nationwide. Hurtig is credited with leading the $425 million buy of Discovery Benefits by public fintech company Wex, Inc.
Hurtig, who worked at Fredrikson & Byron for 13 years, facilitated dozens of M&A deals and advised on regulatory matters while at the Minneapolis-based firm.
“Beau is a bright and strategic lawyer,” said Barbara Lano Rummel, who co-leads the M&A Group alongside Brian Doerner. “He’s strategic in his approach and focused on his clients’ needs. Having a business-focused attorney with Beau’s background in an area as complex as financial services regulation deepens our bench even further and will be an immediate asset to our clients.”
