The Independent Community Bankers of America named Glenwood (Minn.) State Bank President Peter Nelson senior executive vice president of member engagement.
Nelson, who has served as president of the $556 million bank since 2006, is expected to assume the position on Feb. 10. He is credited with growing the bank to $556 million in assets. “As a lifelong community banker, I have a deep appreciation and respect for the vital role of local financial institutions in fostering economic well-being,” Nelson said.
Nelson, who chaired BankIn Minnesota in 2023, will oversee ICBA’s member relations, marketing and communications and state and volunteer committees. Nelson has volunteered for the ICBA for years, including as chair of the policy development committee.
“Peter’s experience running a community bank, his incredible passion for our industry, and his desire to create a lasting impact make him the ideal leader for this role,” said ICBA President and CEO Rebeca Romero Rainey.
Nelson’s wife, Kari, will be interim president of Glenwood State Bank.
