For Illinois banker, career has been music to her ears

Michelle Gross followed her father and grandfather into banking, but only after dabbling in education. Growing up in Bement, Ill., she went to Western Illinois University, studying music education. For three years she taught but ultimately decided that banking was a better place for her. She had worked at the State Bank of Bement the summer of 1988; that gave her a taste of the banking industry that would win out as her career path. Under her father’s tutelage at the bank, Gross has grown into a vocal community bank advocate. Furthermore, she is a 2011 Rising Star selection . . .
