Independence in Kentucky names new president

Jacob Reid

Jacob Reid was promoted to president of Independence Bank, Owensboro, Ky., earlier this month. He is the third generation of his family to helm the $2.3 billion bank.

Formerly executive vice president, Jacob Reid takes over the role from his father Chris Reid, who retains the chairman and CEO titles. Chris Reid had been president since 1991, when he succeeded his father Charles A. Reid.

Jacob Reid had been EVP at the bank for the past three years. Prior to that, he served as vice president of market development and of secondary market management. He has also worked in operations and IT. He has a business degree from Brescia University, Owensboro.

“I am very thankful for the opportunity I have had to learn from my father and grandfather and to be able to step into this role at the bank they built together,” Reid said. “The pulse of this organization is the people that make up the Independence Bank team. I am fortunate to be able to work with such a talented group of individuals, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of this team as we work to move the bank forward.”

Greg Mullican was also named vice chairman, in addition to his current role as EVP and chief lending officer. Mullican has been with the bank for 17 years, spending the last 15 years in his current role.

Tawna Wright was named chief operating officer, and will continue to serve as VP and human resource officer for the bank. She has been with the bank for 20 years.

The bank will soon open a new location in Louisville and recently broke ground on a new location in Frankfort, Ky.
