Independent Bank donates $112K for Ukraine

Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Independent Bank donated more than $112,000 for needed medical supplies and relief for Ukrainians as Russia’s invasion of the country continues.

The bank initially hoped to raise $50,000 in a two-week period. That goal was easily surpassed, with 430 employees donating $56,120. The bank matched those donations, raising the total to $112,240.

The donation was given to two 501(c)(3) nonprofits — Razom (Together) for Ukraine and Doctors Without Borders USA. “As an organization, Independent Bank wanted to do something to assist those currently suffering in Ukraine,” the bank stated. “They offered their employees the opportunity to donate to these nonprofit organizations that are making a positive impact during a very tumultuous time.”
