Joe Garcia was promoted to serve as general counsel of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services.
Garcia has worked for DIFS for more than 14 years, most of which as deputy general counsel in the Office of General Counsel. Prior to his work with the state, Garcia was a lawyer in private practice specializing in commercial transactions, litigation and real estate.
Garcia has Bachelor of Arts and law degrees from Michigan State University, East Lansing.
DIFS Director Anita Fox called Garcia “a dedicated, highly skilled attorney and public servant and I am pleased that he will continue to serve Michigan residents in his new role.”
