Prominent banking attorney joins Citizens Independent Bank board

Nationally-recognized bank regulatory and M&A attorney Karen Grandstrand recently joined the board of directors of Saint Louis Park, Minn.-based Citizens Independent Bank.

Grandstrand chairs the Bank & Finance Group at Minneapolis-based Fredrikson & Byron, P.A., advising clients on examination matters, compliance and enforcement actions, M&As and the recapitalization and acquisition of troubled banks. 

Before joining Fredrikson & Byron, Grandstrand had a 14-year career with the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis. She initially served in the law department, ultimately becoming senior vice president of the banking supervision and risk management departments. 

Grandstrand is a co-chair of the banking law committee at the MN State Bar Association. A member of the American Bar Association and Hennepin County Bar Association, Grandstrand has received numerous awards during her career, including being named to “Best Lawyers in America ” listings for Banking and Finance Law since 2006 and Financial Services Regulation Law since 2011. 

Grandstrand graduated from Concordia College-Moorhead in 1977 and Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1982.
