Minnesota’s independent banking association transitions its marketing team

Matthew Doffing

The Independent Community Bankers of Minnesota has hired Matthew Doffing as vice president and director of marketing and communications. Doffing replaces Kathy Burton, the association’s vice president of membership and marketing since 2001. Burton is set to retire April 30.

Doffing most recently worked on content development and marketing for The Servion Group, New Brighton, Minn., a company that offers loan servicing to credit unions and banks. Prior to that, Doffing worked as a writer and editor for NFR Communications (the company that produces BankBeat and NorthWestern Financial Review). Doffing got his introduction to banking at Wells Fargo Equipment Finance.

Doffing is a 2008 graduate of the University of Minnesota where he obtained a Bachelor of Art’s degree majoring in philosophy.

“Matt’s understanding of technology along with effective strategies related to content, marketing and communications is impressive,” said Jim Amundson, president and CEO of ICBM. “I am confident he will use his knowledge and skills to increase engagement with our bank members, add value for associate members, and help us grow the association.”

Amundson called the personnel changes “pivotal” as the association moved to implement its strategic plan.

Additionally, Patti Coles was promoted to ICBM’s vice president and director of events and education. Coles joined the association in 2015.
