Bank crimes up from a year ago

The number of bank crimes increased in the third quarter to 1,325 from 1,212 in the third quarter of 2009, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The FBI said there were 1,310 robberies, 13 burglaries, two larcenies and six extortions of financial institutions reported between July 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2010.
