Nicolet, Mid-Wis deal to create sixth-largest bank in state

In 2013, two community banks will merge to form the sixth-largest Wisconsin-based bank holding company. Green Bay-based Nicolet Bancshares and its subsidiary, Nicolet National Bank, will acquire Medford-based Mid-Wisconsin Financial Services, the holding company for the $460 million Mid-Wisconsin Bank. 

A transaction valued at $10.2 million, the combined bank will have assets of $1.1 billion and will operate under the Nicolet National Bank brand name. The bank’s acquisition will extend the company’s branch network across northern Wisconsin with 340 employees and 22 branches.
