North Shore Bank partnering with prominent artist on mural

Brookfield, Wis.-based North Shore Bank is creating a parklet area with a large, kindness-themed art display in front of its North End branch in Milwaukee.

The bank is partnering with the prominent Milwaukee artist Fred Kaems on the exhibit. Kaems will paint 7-foot-tall letters spelling “BE KIND,” as well as the branch windows.

The installation is part of the bank’s “Bank on Kindness” initiative. The initiative, which started in 2020, has raised more than $42,000 for participating nonprofits. After the parklet art is installed in June, the bank is expected to announce additional community events in the space.

“As a community bank, we’re always looking for fun and positive ways to engage our neighbors,” said Cristen Baumann, North Shore Bank district manager and vice president. “What better way to continue to spread our “Bank on Kindness” message than a giant, artistically designed reminder on the popular Water Street. We hope this new art installation serves as a reminder to all to spread kindness, and we invite the community to come and take photos, say hi, and engage with us during our events this summer.”
