Fed helps put recession into historical context

      The Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis has added a page to its website which compares the current recession with previous recessions. The site considers data from the 10 recessions since 1946. Employment data and output levels are considered.

      The Minneapolis Fed says that with employment off 2 percent in the last 12 months, the employment picture is on a par with median employment loss in the previous 10 recessions. The worst recessions saw employment . . .
