Foreclosure mitigation efforts announced

      Mediation for people who fall behind on their mortgage payments may be made mandatory by the Wisconsin legislature, if one state senator has her wish. Sen. Lena Taylor would permit borrowers to request mediation before a lender could begin foreclosure procedures. Similar legislation is being promoted by the Attorney General in Minnesota.

      On Dec. 18, Marshall & Ilsley Corp., Wisconsin’s largest bank, said it is declaring a three-month moratorium on mortgage foreclosures for owner . . .
