Oxford Bank appoints prominent Michigan banker to board

Oxford, Mich.-based Oxford Bank Corp. appointed Michael Tierney to its board of directors.

Tierney has been an executive for community and larger banks. Tierney, former president and CEO of Peoples State Bank in Michigan, co-founded Blue Water Bank, which raised $240 million to acquire financial institutions during the Great Recession. The following year, Tierney was named Midwest market president for commercial and retail banking at Flagstar Bank, where he eventually became president and CEO. Tierney was most recently president and CEO of the Community Bankers of Michigan.

The appointment “will positively add to the board’s overall perspective and further enhance the strategic direction of the collective company,” said Lead Independent Director Karen Mersino. “The board is looking forward to this relationship with a highly respected and extremely experienced Michigan banker.”  

Chair, President and CEO David Lamb said Tierney’s “experience in all facets of banking from retail and business banking to regulatory and advocacy will add even more industry knowledge to our boardroom.”
