Comptroller of the Currency Joseph M. Otting announced that Blake Paulson would become chief national bank examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency at the end of the month.
Paulson adds the title to his current role as senior deputy comptroller for midsize and community bank supervision. In this role, he oversees the supervision of more than 1,000 banks and savings associations that support consumers, communities, and businesses across the country.
Since joining the OCC in 1986, Paulson has been involved in supervision of banks of all sizes. He has served as the deputy comptroller for the agency’s central district, as that district’s associate deputy comptroller, and as an assistant deputy comptroller for midsize bank supervision. He assumed his current duties in December 2019 and has a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of South Dakota, Vermillion.
“Blake is the perfect choice to hold this title,” Otting said. “Since joining the executive committee, Blake has been a valuable champion for the men and women of this agency and for the effective and efficient supervision of the banks and thrifts that make up the federal banking system.”
The Chief National Bank Examiner title is currently held by Morris Morgan who will retire at the end of the month after 35 years of service to the nation in bank supervision.
