BankBeat’s Greg McCurry chats about the importance of financial literacy and saving with Kathleen Craig, founder and CEO of Plinqit, and Roger Sundermeier, Jr., SVP/Chief Branding Officer with First Arkansas Bank & Trust, Jacksonville, Ark.
As one of six children growing up in a lower-income home, Craig took inspiration from her background to launch a passion project around savings and financial literacy. She took inspiration from her experience working in a community bank, where she saw first-hand how the institution offered financial guidance and education to consumers. But given the changes in how people bank, Craig knew Plinqit had to bring that guidance and education to the digital sphere.
“Our mission is to build technology that changes people’s financial future,” Craig said.
The company researched the topic to find that savings — rather than making and sticking to a budget — was a better starting point for consumers, and used it to launch their business model.
Roger Sundermeier, Jr., SVP/Chief Branding Officer with First Arkansas Bank & Trust, Jacksonville, Ark., shares his perspective on what working with Plinqit has meant for his insitition.
