#QuickTakes: Robert Johnston

BankBeat publisher Tom Bengtson visits with Robert Johnston, CEO and founder of Adlumin, about the current cybersecurity issues facing community banks and they can best tackle the challenges of the environment.

As the pandemic forced many employees to work remotely, it created a host of new vulnerabilities which bad actors could potentially exploit. “Monitoring those external access points becomes key,” Johnston said. With increased reliance on technology, especially through the cloud, having a point person dedicated to cybersecurity will be critical, even for smaller community banks who long assumed they weren’t attractive targets.

“Even the smallest community banks are of a size that is an appetizing target,” he said. “If you think you’re getting away unscathed, you should probably think again.”

Johnston previously joined BankBeat last year for cybersecurity awareness month.
