#QuickTakes: TJ Minnehan

TJ Minnehan, a 2020 Rising Stars in Banking honoree, contrasts his experience working at both a big bank and a community bank, describes the reservoir of mentor relationships he’s built and considers CRE demand amid economic uncertainty.

“The difference between working in a larger institution and working in a community bank is really the control that you or the ability to influence outcomes,” said Minnehan, who is president of Bank of Kaukauna, Wis. “Larger institutions serve a very great purpose to this country and do a great job, but you’re kind of a cog in the wheel there and you’re part of the equation, whereas in the smaller institution, you can really put your fingerprint on things and you can see the significance of the work that you do on a daily basis and the outcomes it has for the people and the outcomes it has for the communities.”
