First Security Bank & Trust market president to retire

Charles City, Ia.-based First Security Bank & Trust leader Ron Raney will retire Dec. 10.

Raney started his banking career at Household Finance following his college graduation. He then moved on to Perry State Bank, Security State Bank of Hubbard and Hampton State Bank. Raney has been involved with banking throughout his career: In April 2012, he was appointed market president and became a member of the senior management team.

“Ron has always been committed to the community he works and lives in,” said Mark Miller, First Security president and chief lending officer. “It’s made evident by his community involvement and longevity as a volunteer for many organizations.”

Raney has been a member of the Greater Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, Hampton Ambassadors, Summerfest Committee, the RAGBRAI Central Committee and numerous other community organizations.

“He’s also dedicated to the financial well-being of his customers,” Miller said. “He listens well and is able to offer solutions based on his depth of knowledge while working in banking. He has been a true leader for staff he’s worked with over his career.”

Two of Raney’s coworkers, Michelle Schaefer and Donnis Borcherding, spoke of Raney’s leadership in the community and banking.

“Ron has always been there to lend a hand with any of our requests,” Borcherding said. “It has been an honor to work with him, and he will be greatly missed.”

“He’s shared many talents throughout our time working together,” Schaefer added. “I’ve learned many things from him. We wish him well and hope he enjoys the rewards of a job well done.”
