Sunrise Banks opens first retail branch in South Dakota

Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sunrise Banks opened its first retail branch in the state on June 3.

The branch, in Sioux Falls, offers account-opening services along with mortgages and business loans. Last year, the $2.3 billion Sunrise Banks secured approval to relocate its bank charter to South Dakota from Minnesota, allowing it to open the location.

The branch is Sunrise’s first outside of Minnesota. “Sunrise Banks is excited to expand its presence in Sioux Falls,” said President/CEO David Reiling. “With our new retail branch, we’re bringing innovative banking solutions to this vibrant region, along with a commitment to social responsibility and a dedication to environmental sustainability.”

Sunrise Banks is the only certified B Corp operating in South Dakota and the only Community Development Financial Institution Bank in either South Dakota or Minnesota, according to a press release.

The branch joins Sunrise Bank’s fintech offices, which have operated in the Sioux Falls area for more than a decade.

“Sioux Falls is a growing, progressive community with many opportunities for customers and businesses to thrive,” said Market President Damon Sehr. “We feel there’s a lot of correlation between those factors and our own mission and values at Sunrise Banks. We believe our team will work well with local customers and organizations to build strong relationships and drive positive change in the community.”
