Sunrise President steps down following health issues

Nichol Beckstrand has stepped down as president of Sunrise Banks, St. Paul, Minn. She has been president of the $1.1 billion bank since September 2016, having served a short stint as the bank’s interim president. Previously, she had been the bank’s chief operating officer. She started working at Sunrise Banks in March 2006.

“Effective Friday, June 15th, I have stepped down as President of Sunrise Banks,” she wrote in a LinkedIn post. She described a series of health issues, which have fatigued her since the start of the year.

Sunrise Banks CEO David Reiling was named interim president effective that same day.

She said she does not know what her next professional step will be but hopes to find something in the banking or housing arena that “includes more work life harmony.”

Beckstrand started her career in December 1996 as an accountant at CliftonLarsonAllen, becoming a principal in 2004.

She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota – Carlson School of Management. NorthWestern Financial Review honored her in 2016 as an Outstanding Woman in Banking.
