West Lafayette, Ind.-based The Farmers & Merchants Bank named Donald Blume as president. Blume, whose appointment is effective Jan. 1, succeeds current bank President Grant Whaley.
Blume has been in banking for 28 years, and has been executive vice president of The Farmers and Merchants Bank and bank director of The Farmers and Merchants Bancorp since 2017. Blume has a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University Mitch Daniels School of Business in West Lafayette, Ind.
Whaley was hired as president nearly 20 years ago. He will retain his titles as CEO and chair during the transition. “Donald will be a great leader for our bank and help us continue to grow and serve our community,” Whaley said. “Donald has been instrumental in helping grow our bank and leading our lending operation. He understands that in this position, the main responsibility is to serve others rather than being served, which he has already demonstrated with his lending team.”
