Treynor, Iowa-based TS Bank recently marked its 100-year anniversary by donating nearly 250 books to first grade students at four local elementary schools.
Bank employees recently visited the schools and read former FDIC Chair Sheila Bair’s book “Rock, Brock and the Savings Shock,” to connect students with ways they can accumulate, spend and share their money. Since 2007, TS Bank, chartered in May 1923, has donated more than $5 million to the community and impacted more than 140,000 students and adults through financial literacy.
“The goal of the book read was to help empower students to think differently about their personal financial story,” said Traci Dresher, financial literacy programs manager for the $393 million bank. “This was a great way to celebrate TS Bank’s 100 years in community banking and connect the behavior of saving with the love of learning.”
