TS Bank in Treynor, Iowa, donated $5,000 to Faith Friends, a non-profit organization that helps parents who lose an infant child. The organization, which is almost one year old, helps pay for funerals, headstones and burial costs to families who lose a child. The program was started in honor of Faith Bateman who died 90 minutes after being born in 2010.
“Parents who lose their infants are usually young themselves. They may be in the beginning of their work career and have many expenses such as student loans, mortgages or rent, and simply may not have the thousands of dollars for funeral expenses for a child. Although Faith’s Friends cannot take away the families’ grief, we hope to relieve the added burden of paying for such expenses, so the family can grieve during this trying time. We are so appreciative of this gift from TS Bank and the families who will be impacted,” said Christina Bateman, president and founder of Faith’s Friends, which is based in Atlantic, Iowa.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, for every 1,000 live births 5.82 deaths occur.
