United Bankers’ Bank asset liability management leader to retire

Bloomington, Minn.-based United Bankers’ Bank Director of ALM Strategy Jim Nowak will retire at the end of May. 

A vice president, Nowak joined UBB Securities in 2002 with eight years of experience in asset liability management. Nowak is credited with developing and managing UBB’s proprietary asset/liability model, ALMEdge. Today, the program serves more than 200 community banks in 15 states. Nowak co-hosted the annual ALMEdge Users Conference for more than 20 years.

A former faculty member at the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Nowak has been a guest financial commentator on Twin Cities media outlets Fox 9 News and WCCO Radio. 

“Jim has made a lasting impression on UBB and the community banking industry that will continue for years after his departure,” said Chief Investments Officer Ben Eskierka. “He will be missed for his expertise and leadership as well as his commitment to the community banks we serve.”
