Community banks as tech leaders?

The corner bank has never been on the bleeding edge. To the contrary, a pillar of community bank strength has been quiet stability; slow and steady wins the race. Small and mid-sized institutions have been able to let their larger counterparts beta-test new technology and finally adopt that which rises to the top in popularity after the platform is stable and less expensive. One banking industry research firm, however, sees the smart phone revolution as a place where community banks can take the lead.
