Wis. bank appoints CFO

Blackhawk Bancorp, Inc., Beloit, Wis., named Matthew McDonnell as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the holding company and its wholly owned subsidiary, Blackhawk Bank.

McDonnell started his career in public accounting, working for Grant Thornton, LLP, and was most recently with a larger regional bank where he held positions in finance and operations.

McDonnell is a certified public accountant, graduated from Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., and has an MBA from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in Evanston, Ill.

“We are excited about Matthew joining our team,” said Todd James, president and CEO of the company. “He brings strong capabilities in process improvement and operational effectiveness as well as financial management and reporting.”

The $848 million Blackhawk Bancorp operates 11 full-service banking centers and a dedicated commercial office, which operate in Rock County, Wis., and the Illinois counties of Winnebago, McHenry, Lake and Kane.
