Wisconsin DFI appoints Heilman to deputy secretary

The Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions appointed Craig Heilman as deputy secretary.

Heilman, who started in his role on Aug. 12, was previously division administrator for the agency’s Division of Corporate and Consumer Services.

Heilman held several leadership positions in technology management and business administration during his 14-year career at Madison-based benefits administrator Total Administrative Services Corp. before joining the public sector.

DFI Secretary Cheryll Olson-Collins called Heilman “a great addition to the leadership team with his extensive leadership, team building and management experience. Craig is known for his ability to motivate staff and create inclusive environments. I’m confident he will do a great job leading the agency’s daily operations.”

Heilman has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and holds a Lean Six Sigma yellow belt certification from the University of Wisconsin School of Business.
