Women-owned Fortuna Bank to mark Ohio opening

Women-owned Fortuna Bank will celebrate its opening Jan. 30 in the Columbus, Ohio, suburb of Grandview Heights.

Last month, Fortuna Bank became the first women-owned bank to open in the state. Fortuna Bank offers services for small businesses and women. The bank offers small business loans and connects women with financial capital, mentoring, education and partnerships.

Multiple women-owned banks have opened over the past few years, including Chicago-based First Women’s Bank and Houston-based Agility Bank.

“It wasn’t a byproduct, it was a goal,” Fortuna Co-Founder Lisa J. Berger told the Columbus Jewish News. … I don’t like to do things that everybody else does. I have worked in a sort of male-dominated industry my entire professional career. I see women getting left behind in the financial world and just dismissed.”
