Bill to delay Durbin amendment fails

The U.S. Senate voted 54-45 on June 8 to defeat a bill proposed by Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) which would have delayed implementation of a price cap on debit card interchange fees. Although the bill won a majority of votes, 60 votes was needed to pass. Twenty-one senators who voted last summer for the Durbin amendment, which implements the cap, voted for the Tester bill. The bill would have required the Federal Reserve to take up to an additional year . . .
