Former Indianapolis Power and Light Company president and CEO Rafael Sanchez will join Evansville, Ind.-based Old National Bank on Nov. 26 as president of private banking.

Sanchez, who will be based in Indianapolis, will lead a team that focuses on private banking clients throughout Old National’s five-state footprint.

Prior to his time at IPL, Sanchez was vice president of business development and legal affairs for Fineline Printing Group.  Prior to that, he was a business attorney at the law firm of Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP in Indianapolis, where he was recognized as Indianapolis’s “Best & Brightest” attorney in 2013. He began his career in 1999 as a retail banker with National City Bank in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Sanchez has a Bachelor of Arts degree in social sciences and political science from the University of Puerto Rico, and his law degree from the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. He serves as co-chair for the Indianapolis 2021 NBA All-Star Game, co-chair for the Governor’s Annual Boy Scouts Luncheon, and secretary for the Indy Championship Fund.

He is an executive committee member for United Way of Central Indiana and vice chair of the Indiana Latino Institute. In 2017, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash award from Governor Eric Holcomb, which honors individuals for their contributions to the state of Indiana.

“We are incredibly excited that a leader of Rafael’s unique abilities is joining our organization,” said Jim Sandgren, president and CEO of the $17.4 billion Old National. “We are confident that empowering Rafael to focus exclusively on private banking will elevate Old National’s commitment to, and ability to serve, this important client base.”
