Upon hearing of Bill Seidman’s death last month, I pulled out his memoir, “Full Faith and Credit: The Great S&L Debacle and Other Washington Sagas,” from my office bookshelf. Seidman, chairman of the FDIC from 1985-1991, was well known among bankers, both as a newsmaker and as a frequent speaker at industry meetings throughout the 1990s.
Rereading the memoir, I am amazed by how little things change, even over decades. Seidman writes about his days as assistant to President Gerald Ford . . .
