Bankers uncertain about economic outlook, Grant Thornton survey shows
The annual Bank Executives Survey conducted by the consulting firm Grant Thornton shows an unprecedented level of industry pessimism, with none of the survey’s 339 respondents saying they were “highly optimistic” about the outlook for the economy. It was the first time in the 16-year history of the survey that not a single banker claimed to be highly optimistic. Results for the survey, conducted late last year, were recently made available.
