William Bradford Kessel has assumed the role of president of Independent Bank Corporation, Ionia, Mich., effective April 1. Mike Magee Jr., will continue to serve as CEO until his retirement at the end of 2012. As part of the transition plan, Magee will assume the role of board chairman at the annual meeting of shareholders.
