Associated Bank tackling food insecurity through donation drive, volunteer work

Green Bay, Wis.-based Associated Bank is hosting a ‘Stock the Box’ initiative to address food insecurity.

The food drive, which accepts nonperishable, non-glass food items to be donated to local nonprofit organizations, is taking place through July 25 at all Associated Bank locations.  The bank will also host its first company-wide Volunteer Day of Service on July 26, during which employees will volunteer in activities directly addressing food security.

“Community means something really special at Associated Bank — and for our colleagues, that starts with volunteering,” said Andy Harmening, Associated Bank president and CEO. “Our Volunteer Day of Service is focused on food security because it supports a basic need across all our markets and it is a cause that our colleagues are passionate about.”

The bank has long-time relationships with hunger-focused nonprofits such as Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin, Second Harvest and Greater Chicago Food Depository. “Working with these organizations and further inviting our customers to join in supporting the cause provides a unique opportunity for us to work hand-in-hand with our community partners and neighbors in addressing food security needs,” Harmening said. “These needs are especially important now when schools are out of session and youth hunger is even more prominent.”
