Bankers cut the ceremonial red and Ben Franklin-studded ribbon at the grand opening of Blackhawk Bank’s Janesville, Wis., location late January. Janesville’s Economic Director declared the day “Blackhawk Bank Day,” honoring the bank’s ongoing commitment to the community.

Blackhawk Bank President and COO Dave Adkins chopped the ribbon at the celebration with Blackhawk’s CEO Rick Bastian and Rose Oswald Poels, CEO of the Wisconsin Bankers Association, at his side.

The ceremony brought out Janesville community officials, members of Forward Janesville, an economic and community development association, and Blackhawk Bank senior management. Petra the German Shepherd was also there to accept Blackhawk Bank’s $1,500 donation to the Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin.

Blackhawk Bank, based in Beloit, Wis., has been around since 1881. In addition to its Wisconsin locations, it has branches in Rockford, Belvidere, Machesney Park and Roscoe, Ill. The new location on Milton Avenue will give residents and business owners a local banking center with a drive-thru, ATM, cash management and mortgage services, business and investment advice and more.

Blackhawk has served the Janesville community since August of 2014 from the Blackhawk Bank Mortgage & Commercial Loan office, which has since closed.

“A special thank you goes out to everyone who has worked on this project,” Adkins said. “The community has warmly welcomed Blackhawk Bank’s growth in the area.”
