Byline Bancorp names former Mexican government official to board

Chicago-based Byline Bancorp appointed Carlos Ruiz Sacristan to its board of directors and the board of its subsidiary Byline Bank.

Ruiz Sacristan has decades of leadership, executive and operating experience in mining, energy and government sectors. He is a member of several boards and has had several positions in the Mexican government, most recently as CEO of Mexico’s national oil company PEMEX. He also served as Mexico’s secretary of communications and transportation.

Ruiz Sacristan has a master’s degree from Evanston, Ill.-based Northwestern University.

“Carlos brings an exceptionally broad and deep background to our board, not only as a seasoned business leader, but also as a CEO and director of major public companies across multiple industries,” said Roberto R. Herencia, executive chair and CEO of $8.8 billion Byline Bancorp. “Byline and our stockholders will benefit from Carlos’ breadth of global experience and his perspective will make an important contribution to the board’s oversight, and I look forward to working with him and our other directors as we continue to prudently grow our franchise.”
